Situated right by the Arctic Circle, the ‘official’ terrestrial residence of Santa Claus is the capital of Finnish Lapland and a tourism boomtown. Its wonderful Arktikum museum is the perfect introduction to these latitudes, and Rovaniemi is a good place to organise activities from. It’s also Lapland’s transport hub.
Santa Claus Village is Lapland’s best-known attraction and a resort in its own right. It is home activity companies, shops, restaurants and cafés. Husky and reindeer rides, snowmobile tours, design items and souvenirs, ice and snow constructions, an igloo hotel and holiday village accommodation can be found there.

You can meet Santa Claus and cross the magical Arctic Circle at the Santa Claus Village in Lapland in Finland. Rovaniemi is The official Home of Santa Claus. Arktikum provides information on Arctic issues and tells stories about Lapland. The Northern Lights hunting is a bestseller outdoors night tour. 2,5 hours in a traditional tent with a campfire, on a lake shore.
Warm outfit (if the temperature is under -15 degrees outside), a professional guide, a hot drink , some snacks on fire and hopefully the main feature – the Aurora Borealis – will make you feel the real spirit of Lapland.
Detailed familiarization with the private life of the reindeer and their daily work and relaxation. You have a unique opportunity to pass an exam on handling a reindeer sled and even receive a special “driving license” without any age restrictions or doping control. Have a seat in the sled and off you go! Getting cold? You can warm yourselves around a bonfire in a near hut and enjoy a
cup of hot juice. In a traditional Lapp hut you will be “baptized” according to all rules of the North.
Around Rovaniemi there are 1100 kilometres of tracks to choose from, so there are trails suitable for everyone. Your guide chooses the trails for today’s adventure and takes you off the beaten track to the woods of the Arctic Circle. Regardless of the fact that you are either a beginner in snowmobiling or you already have some experience, after this safari you will feel that you learnt a lot and, hopefully, it will also increase your appetite for snowmobiling!
Professional dog-breeders will introduce you to the Huskies’ life, daily routine and work at the farm. You will pass a brief course of “the young dog-breeder” after which you will leave on a 5 km safari (~20 min) on dog sledge (1-2 people in the sledge). One is the driver and the other one is the passenger. You can also swap places later. You will have the opportunity to rest, take photographs and swap places on a short rest. On your way back home you will be offered hot berry juice, tea or coffee and cookies.
The best time to spot the Auroras is said to be after 22:00, and exactly at that time we will be on a premium spot in the nocturnal landscape! Driving through the dark landscapes is an awesome experience itself but if the sky is clear and you are lucky, you can experience the beautiful show of northern lights, a star studded sky or the mystical full moon. Our goal is a wilderness camp
at a location where you have clear view on the northern sky. Good stories, a tasty snack and hot beverages are guaranteed, even if the Auroras would fail us that night!
